Sapura Defence Sdn Bhd awards ATC Simulation contract to Micro Nav Limited
30 May 2017
Sapura Defence Sdn Bhd (Sapura) is in collaboration with Micro Nav Limited (Micro Nav) to upgrade the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Radar Simulator System (RSS).
RMAF has benefited from Micro Nav’s BEST (Beginning to End for Simulation and Training) simulator in partnership with Sapura for over 15 years.
This upgrade will ensure RMAF can increase its training capability by meeting the demand for an enhanced communication system, a mobile/tactical training facility and a self-learning facility for aerodrome and approach students. Furthermore, the upgrade will provide high fidelity 3D airport models of Gong Kedak and Labuan, as well as additional features including Micro Nav’s Aircraft Editor, student reporting capability, scenario reporting and record playback and resume. The upgrade will be completed over 6 months. This award is further recognition of Micro Nav’s commitment and focus on the Asian market and in particular Malaysia.
Michael Saunders, Sales & Marketing Director at Micro Nav said, “We are delighted with this award in what is a key and strategic market for Micro Nav. I am confident that this is the start of more business with Sapura and RMAF. This contract is just reward for the Micro Nav team who worked on the bid and it is them, as well as Sapura and RMAF, that I give thanks to”.

Winner of the Queen’s Award for Innovation 2016
Micro Nav received the Innovation Award for its Automatic Display Alignment System (ADAS) used in 3D air traffic control simulators and training systems. These simulators rely on the use of multiple projectors to present a simulated view that would be seen from a control tower at an airport. Historically, setting up and maintaining the calibration of multiple projector arrays has been achieved manually by skilled specialist engineers.
In August 2012, Micro Nav joined the Quadrant Group of companies, adding world-class Air Traffic Control simulation systems to the Quadrant Flight Simulation portfolio.
Established in 1994, the Quadrant Group is collectively active in flight training services and flight simulation relocations, updates, products, manufacturing and maintenance. Along with Micro Nav, the Group includes: Quadrant Systems Limited, Quadrant Simulation Systems Inc, and Quest Flight Training Limited.
