Successful Site Acceptance Test for the Technical Refresh at the Oman Aircraft Control College

Following on from its contract award in September 2018, Micro Nav has successfully completed the technical refresh of the BEST Tower visual display system at the Oman Aircraft Control College (OACC).
OACC first installed a BEST 3D Tower in 2007, using a projected flat panel display solution. This technical refresh sees OACC benefitting from Micro Nav’s own BEST 3D visual display system, providing them with unique and advanced capabilities in ATC simulation.
Bespoke for this installation, the BEST 3D visual display system consists of a screen with a continuous cylindrical surface and five high-resolution projectors. The image is optimised to be geometrically corrected, colour-matched, and virtually seamless through Micro Nav’s award winning Automatic Display Alignment System (ADAS).
The screen, which is made-up of custom-made Glassfibre Reinforced Plastic (GRP) panels, has an arc of 234° and a radius of 4.0m, and is 2.52m high, providing the OACC with a state-of-the-art visual display system.
The photos show stages of installation, with OACC staff supporting the installation, and attending a training course to help maintain the updated BEST Tower system, followed by a Site Acceptance Test.
