We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Installation Technician to travel the world installing Air Traffic Control simulators at customer sites. You will be hands-on and technically capable, working independently and as part of a team delivering excellent customer service to tight deadlines.
This role involves regular travel, so it will suit someone who is comfortable working at customer locations both in the UK and occasionally overseas.
Applicants with military experience, particularly in communications or IT are encouraged to apply.
Site visits to assess the viability of installations
Assist with the creation of technical documents for Bids
Creation of installation documentation.
Preparation of equipment orders.
Configuration of IT hardware components of Simulators
Installation and building of customer test rigs
Shipping of completed simulators
Deployment of simulators to customer sites
Liasing with Project Managers to ensure Key milestones are met
Good written, and presentation skills.
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to support users of varying levels of proficiency.
Proven relevant experience working in IT
Ability to work to ISO 9001 standards.
Experience of installing and setting up computer hardware, networks, domain accounts, and of troubleshooting and rectifying user and hardware issues.
Proficiency with Windows Operating Systems – both desktop (Windows 11) and server (Server 2022/2025 including roles)
Understanding of the configuration and operation of server and networking infrastructure.
Good understanding of hardware and software specifications.
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to travel to Customer sites within the UK and overseas.
IT professional qualification (desirable not required).
Experience and understanding of IT issues – Networking and connectivity
Custom Installation (CI) professional qualification (desirable not required).
Experience and understanding of CI issues, knowledge of LAN and Mains backbone specifications (desirable not required).
Experience in cable dressing, management, termination and cable limitations (desirable).
Experience in a customer-facing role.
Experience of dealing with internal departments of mixed disciplines and personnel at all levels.
Good standard verbal and written communication.
Ability to manage time and work to tight deadlines.
